Youth gets lifer for patricide

TIRUNELVELI, MARCH 14 . The Fast Track Court II Judge, Ramamurthy, today awarded life sentence to a youth for murdering his father.

According to the prosecution, R. Balakrishnan (38) of Maavadi under the Maanur police station limits had a dispute with his father, Ramasamy (62), as he suspected that his father had apportioned the major share of the property to his younger brother, R. Paramasivan.

When Mr. Ramasamy was working in his field on July 13, 2003, Balakrishnan raked up the issue and hacked the old man to death. The Judge also imposed a fine of Rs.1,000 on Balakrishnan.
