NEW DELHI, MARCH 14. A Northern Railway employee has alleged that he was handed over a baby girl even though his wife had given birth to a boy last year at Northern Railway Hospital here. The Class IV employee, posted at New Delhi railway station, approached the hospital with the birth certificate which purportedly said his wife had given birth to a boy. He told them that he was an illiterate and could not read the certificate earlier and was under the impression that his wife had given birth to a baby girl. However, a couple of days ago one of his relatives happened to see the certificate which mentioned that a boy was born to the employee's wife. However, a Northern Railway spokesperson said the discrepancy in the certificate could be a clerical mistake. He added that the man's wife was admitted to hospital on November 8 last year and was discharged the next day after she delivered a baby girl.
