Letters to the Editor
Sir, From the pandemonium that followed the trust vote today and the UPA charge that the anti-defection law was openly flouted in the House, it does not appear as if the Jharkhand drama has ended yet. The developments speak volumes of the predicament Governor Syed Sibtey Razi has been in for two weeks now. It is difficult to perceive his invitation to Shibu Soren earlier as a fraud on the Constitution under the circumstances. Looks like it is easier to judge a decision than to take one.
Anil Prasad Lingam,
* * * Sir, The developments in Jharkhand are a blot on Indian democracy. Independent MLAs are being pampered with offers of Minister posts. The Constitution should be amended saying no independent MLA can become a Minister unless he extends one year of continued support to a party or an alliance.
T. Anbumani,
* * * Sir, Jharkhand is symptomatic of an ailing democracy. It is not the system that is ailing but its practitioners who have rendered it as such.
S. Rajasekhar,
