Kurnool
By Our Staff Reporter
KURNOOL, MARCH 15. The Collector, Vikas Raj, has appealed to political parties and other organisations not to take up protest programmes that would cause traffic jams during the SSC examination in the city. Talking to reporters on Tuesday, he said rasta rokos and other forms of protests would cause inconvenience to students on the way to examination centres. Mr. Vikas Raj said all was in place for 41,220 students taking their examination at 171 centres in Kurnool district starting on March 16. In all, 32,755 students were enrolled in schools and 8,465 were taking the exam privately. Of them, 25,578 were boys and 15,642 girls.
Problematic centres
He said 14 centres were identified as problematic where sitting squads would be deployed. The DEO, Hemanalini and the observer, Prabhakar Reddy, said help from donors would be accepted to arrange furniture in the examination halls in some schools where no chairs were available. However, the donor should arrange furniture for at least one room or the entire centre.
Carrying mobile phones or other electronic gadgets into the examination halls was banned. The restriction applied to all invigilators and superintendents of examination halls too. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy said any illegal activity in conduct of examinations was punishable with seven years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs. one lakh. Neglect on the part of invigilation staff was also serious offence, he added.
