`Implement Vat from April 1'

CHENNAI,
MARCH 15.
The Tamilnadu Plastics Manufacturers' Association has urged the State Government to implement the Value Added Tax (VAT) from April 1 to help the business community compete equally with other states.
A press release from the Association secretary, P.D. Vivekanandhan, said while the neighbouring States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry have decided to introduce VAT, Tamil Nadu was yet to take a decision on it. "This might cause a big shift to the neighbouring states resulting in huge loss of revenue to the State."
