CHENNAI, MARCH 15. Two building automation-manufacturing companies, DATS India Limited and the Ireland-based Europlex Technologies Limited, have merged to form iMetrex Technology Limited. Addressing a press conference here, Anand Mecheri, Executive Chairman of the iMetrex Group, said India would be the hub for iMetrex. It would establish its "global resource centre" at Siruseri, near Chennai. A 70,000-sq. ft new centre would come up in Phase I. The centre with an investment of Rs. 12-13 crores would be ready by April 2006, and would employ 200 people. At present, DATS had 300 people in India, and Europlex had about 45 employees at Dublin, Ireland. Mr. Mecheri said Rs. 75-crore DATS, with its facility in Pondicherry, had been delivering electronic security, safety and building automation systems based on Europlex products. Post-merger, the products manufactured by iMetrex in Pondicherry and Siruseri facilities would be branded as Europlex. DATS would continue to use Europlex products and third-party products to provide customers end-to-end solutions, he added.
