Rupee declines
MUMBAI,
MARCH 15.
The rupee today weakened against the U.S. currency on a late round of heavy dollar short-covering, fuelled by overseas rebound and firm global oil prices, terminating a six-session straight rally that took it to over five week peaks.
In moderately active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee closed at 43.5850/5950 a dollar, sharply lower from yesterday's finish of 43.55/56 after a weak opening slot of 43.57/58 due to the dollar's overseas turnaround against major global rivals. PTI
