Congress mounts fresh offensive against Naidu

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, MARCH 15. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has asked the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, to bring pressure on his wife, Bhuvaneswari, to close down Heritage Foods as it is harming the interest of farmers.

Mounting a counter-offensive on the TDP to blunt its attack against the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on the Swarna Power Project controversy involving his relative, the CLP members on Tuesday said Chittoor farmers had lost their livelihood due to the dairy.

The TDP president had systematically destroyed the Chittoor Dairy to divert its business to Heritage Foods owned by his wife, unmindful of the effect it had on the rural economy.

In an open letter to Mr. Naidu, the CLP secretary, E. Pratap Reddy, executive member, V. Vasanta Kumar and the Government Chief Whip, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, asked Mr. Naidu to be prepared to forego the profits from the dairy to protect farmers' interest.
