Senior U.P. lawyers quit

LUCKNOW, MARCH 15. Five senior lawyers, including an Additional Advocate General, who had been representing the Uttar Pradesh goverment in the Supreme Court have tendered their resignation.

A release by the state government quoting State Principal Secretary (Law) Dharamveer Sharma said their resignations were accepted yesterday.

All the five -- Additional Advocate General Sunil Gupta and panel counsels Vivek Vishnoi and Jatin Jhaveri and two Advocates on Record Pramod Dayal and Puneet Dutt Tyagi -- were appointed on October 21, 2003. --UNI
