UDUPI, MARCH 15. The Superintendent of Police, S. Murugan, on Tuesday said the police have arrested four persons involved in the attack on Hajabba and Hasanabba. He gave the names of the four arrested as Kanthu Poojary, Satish, Dharma and Jayant. The names of two more members of the group, who are at large, are Yashpal and Prakash Bhandary. He said the complaint was given on Monday. The complainants had not revealed that they had been stripped. The police came to know about it later. He said according to the complaint, Hajabba had gone to buy a calf from Kanthu Poojary. After the sale, Kanthu Poojary and a group of persons had assaulted him. The police have registered a case. The incident had featured in the Legislature and the police had given the requisite information, Mr. Murugan said.
Suspended
Mr. Murugan suspended the Circle Police Inspector, Praveen Naik, and the Sub-Inspector attached to Malpe Police Station, C.D. Nagaraj, on the charge of not arresting the accused in the assault case.
