Falls into manhole, dies

A labourer, Dastagiri (36), died on Tuesday after accidentally falling into a manhole at Kukatpally. A resident of Nizampet Road, the victim was trying to check the water level inside the Manjeera pipeline when the mishap occurred, the local police said.

Bid to loot ATM centre

Thieves tried in vain to loot an ATM centre of the State Bank of India at Langerhouse on Monday night. The miscreants gained entry into the centre by breaking the glass door. However, they could not open the ATM machine.

House burgled

Miscreants broke into a house at Vasavi Colony in the limits of Saroornagar police station and took away gold ornaments weighing 16 tolas and Rs. 2,000 in cash. The house owner, Kishore Kumar, and his family, left for Bhadrachalam a week ago. On return, they found the lock broken and the property stolen.

Ex-convict held

The Bowenpally police arrested an ex-convict, J. Narsing Rao, and recovered stolen articles worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs on Tuesday. Rao was arrested while he was allegedly trying to sell stolen property at Bowenpally, a press release said.

Fatal knock

A pedestrian, D. Rajeshwar, was killed on Tuesday when a water tanker knocked him down near Vidyanagar. He was a resident of Padma Colony.
