COIMBATORE, MARCH 15. A two-member team from the Election Commission of India inspected the ongoing door-to-door electoral roll revision in Coimbatore. According to a release from the District Collector, S. Kosalaraman, the Coimbatore Corporation commenced the door-to-door electoral roll revision work on March 1, 2005. As many as 982 enumerators and 492 supervisory staff are undertaking the work in areas coming under the Coimbatore East, Coimbatore West, Thondamuthur, Perur and Singanallur Assembly constituencies that fall under the administrative control of the Coimbatore Corporation. The EC team comprising the secretary, R. K. Srivastava, and the joint secretary, S. K. Sabarwal, inspected the work at a number of places in Perur, Thondamuthur and other areas. They found that there was lack of cooperation from the electorate in terms of furnishing the voter identity cards. If the electors were taking a lot of time to produce the cards, the enumerators shall leave a message and visit them again, the EC officials said. Office-goers and others who are away from home have been requested to leave their identity cards with those in the house to make the job easier for the enumerators.
Tirupur
The EC team today reviewed the progress of summary revision of electoral rolls at Palladam, Pongalur, Tirupur, Nallur, Velampalayam and Avanashi. They held a review meeting with the officials at Revenue Divisional Office, here.
