KOCHI, MARCH 15. Banks now have to play their roles in a global environment and chartered accountants should help them, especially public sector banks, to bridge the gap between expectations and performance, said the Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, V.K. Chopra, here today. He was inaugurating a seminar on bank audit organised by the district branch of the Southern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The emerging competition should lead to transparency and efficiency for the banks, he added. V.A. Joseph, Executive Director of South Indian Bank; Babu Abraham Kallivayalil, Chairman of the regional council; and V.X. Jose, Chairman of the district branch of the ICAI, spoke.
