Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degree Celsius and minimum of 21.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity recorded at 77 per cent in the morning dropped to 53 per cent in the evening.

VMC seals shops

Eight shops doing business in used bottles in Krishna Lanka area were sealed by officials of the Municipal Corporation's Health Department on Tuesday. Two shops on Kotha Machine Road and one shop each on the Post Office road, Anand Bhavan Road, Baireddivari street, Palapartivari street, Dintyalavari street and Tirupalarao street were sealed.

No bandh

Medical shops will remain open on March 17, as pharmacists are not observing bandh, according to a press release from the Federation of Drug Traders, A.P. The federation's State committee chairman, P.S. Patnaik, said no bandh call had been given.

G.O. hailed

The West Krishna branch of the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers' Association has hailed the State Government's decision to allot house sites for Government employees. The branch president, P. Ashok Babu, has lauded the Government's decision to establish `land banks' in every district.

SIRIS director dead

P.G. Shan Bagh, founder director of SIRIS (South India Research Institute Private Limited) died at his residence here on Monday. He was 81. He is survived by wife and two daughters. He was an active member of the Rotary Club.
