THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 15. Filmmaker Aravindan had the ability to transform people who came in contact with him in an enduring way, said media personality Sashi Kumar here today. He was speaking after receiving the 14th Aravindan Puraskaram for his debut film, `Kaya Taran' (Chrysalis) at a function organised by the Chalachithra film society. "Talking to Aravindan itself was a process of catharsis," he said. Mr. Sashi Kumar said that he had learnt the cardinal values of film-making from Aravindan than through books. Mr. Sashi Kumar said that receiving an award in the name of Aravindan was the most precious recognition for him. Aravindan was a mentor, philosopher and guide, all rolled into one, he said. Instituted by Chalachithra, a film society, the Aravindan Puraskaram carries a purse of Rs. 10,000, a citation and a memento. The puraskaram was presented by filmmaker Shaji N. Karun. Artist Namboothri was also honoured at the function on his completing 50 years in the field of creative arts.
