By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 15 . It is high time the Central Government intervened to secure the release of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Abdul Naser Maudany, who has been languishing in a Tamil Nadu jail without trial for years, the former Speaker and Congress leader, V.M. Sudheeran, has said. He was inaugurating a function got up by the PDP at Vallakkadavu here today to launch an agitational programme to get Mr. Maudany released so that he can undergo medical treatment. The PDP working chairman, Abdul Azeez, chaired the function. Mr. Sudheeran said it was regrettable that his party, which stood for the minorities, had not been able to do enough to secure the PDP leader's release. It was his strong view that the Centre should step in on Mr. Maudany's behalf. He, however, said the efforts from within to weaken the Congress could not be condoned.
