Letters to the Editor
Sir, That the row over naming a new airport in Hyderabad stalled parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday is unfortunate. The Rajasekhara Reddy Government's decision to name the airport at Shamshabad after Rajiv Gandhi is a ploy to impress the high command. The zeal with which the Government seeks to name everything from housing schemes to airports after the leader is insulting to the people of the State. If the Centre indeed wants to name the airport after a Congress leader, why not call it the P.V. Narasimha Rao airport?
Naveen Kanneganti,
* * * Sir, If Rao's name is not acceptable to the party high command, Mr. Reddy can suggest the name of Potti Sriramulu. The Chief Minister will do well to remember that even if he names every village and street after Rajiv Gandhi or Indira Gandhi, that by itself is no guarantee that Congress rule will continue forever in the State.
C. Pratap,
