Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Supreme Court ruling that the date of birth recorded in a horoscope cannot be taken as conclusive proof of age if the date recorded in the school register is different (March 16) is strange. In a country where a significant percentage is illiterate, the possibility of giving wrong age in horoscopes is minimum as it is drawn up soon after the birth of a child. On the other hand, the chances of error are more by the time the child is admitted to school because parents forget the actual date of birth by then.
P.U. Krishnan,
* * * Sir, Horoscopes can be changed to suit the needs of the people. In the case of those who do not have school leaving certificates, the proof of age should be determined from hospital records and birth registers.
B.S. Ganesh,
