Nagmarapalli's assurance on water pipelines

BANGALORE, MARCH 17. The Minister for Forests, Gurupadappa Nagmarapalli, on Wednesday assured members in the Legislative Assembly that he will direct the officials of the Forest Department to allow electricity and drinking water pipelines through forest areas.

Responding to Vishweshwar Hegde (BJP) and others, he mentioned that there is a directive from the Supreme Court not to allow any activity that disturbed the wildlife. However, the officials will be told to cooperate on issues related to drinking water and electricity.

The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, H.C. Mahadevappa, assured Siddhu Savadgi and Govind Karjol (both BJP) that he will talk to the Minister for Irrigation and have three tmcft of water (two tmcft from the Krishna and one tmcft from the Ghataprabha) released to Belgaum, Bijapur and Bagalkot.

The Minister for Revenue, M.P. Prakash, assured K.S. Eshwarappa (BJP) that he will furnish to the House the details on the arrest of a theatre owner in Shimoga and the action to be taken against the local police official. Mr. Eshwarappa pointed out that the theatre owner had been arrested for no fault of his and put in police custody for two days.
