Rafick Ali in lead

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 17. Kolkata's Rafick Ali overshadowed S.S.P. Chaurasia to take the lead on day one of the Rs. 10 lakh Hero Golf Chandigarh Open 2005, the 16th leg of the Amby Valley PGAI Tour, at the Chandigarh Golf Club here on Thursday.

Ali returned a card of seven under 65 one stroke ahead of Harinder Gupta. Harinder Gupta returned six under 66 as he fired seven birdies and an eagle to be placed at second spot.

Chaurasia began his quest for a back-to-back win with a four under 68 to tie with Digvijay Singh for third spot.

Ashok Kumar along with Arjun Chaudhri finished at fifth with three under 69.

Mukesh Kumar was tied for seventh with Pappan, Vishal Singh, Yusuf Ali, Jaiveer Virk and Chini Ali as they all returned two under 70. — PTI
