KANPUR, MARCH 17 . Kanpur police arrested three persons involved in betting over the reaching of the 10,000 run mark by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and seized Rs 40,000 cash from them. Acting on a tip-off, some policemen posing as persons involved in betting went to a house yesterday. They caught three persons -- Ajaybir Singh, Rajkumar and Sunil Bachcha -- red-handed for betting and arrested them. Two others, however, managed to escape, police said. The police team recovered Rs 40,000 cash, a gold pendant, a computer, four cellphones, a car, betting record register and betting tickets from the house. Police said they suspected that the arrested men were a part of an international betting racket. During the course of Sachin's innings, these persons were betting on every four and sixer and were coordinating with their counterparts in various other states through phone, police claimed. Incidentally, a betting racket had earlier also been busted in the city during the India-South Africa match and the gang members were arrested. -- UNI
