By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, MARCH 17. A legislative committee report on women and child development has recommended to the Government to provide incentives for parents, including those from well-to-do families, to open savings accounts for their newborn children.

The report by the committee, headed by the Minister for Women and Child Development, T. Bhagirathi Marulasiddanagouda, was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. The committee has suggested to the Government to set up a fund to provide assistance to poor families which have physically challenged children.
