Letters to the Editor
Sir, It is strange that the disadvantage caused to senior citizens in the budget has not received serious attention. A senior citizen will be worse off if the proposals are implemented as they are, contrary to the claim that everyone will have some tax relief. One hopes that the Finance Minister will make the necessary change in the proposals.
P.C. Jayaraman,
* * * Sir, The plight of senior citizens needs to be looked into by the Finance Minister. Though the new budget has benefited the salaried class, this is not the case with senior citizens. It will be a good gesture on the part of the Minister if he restores the existing rebate for them.
S.S. Viswanathan,
