NEW DELHI, MARCH 18. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today said there should be no resumption of military supplies to Nepal as it would strengthen the King's "autocratic regime.'' In a statement, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau, which is currently in session here, expressed deep concern over the refusal of the King of Nepal, Gyanendra, to heed international public opinion and undo the steps taken to "suppress democracy" there. It said the arrest of political leaders and activists continued, civil liberties remained suspended and censorship of media was imposed. The Polit Bureau appreciated the stand taken by the Centre calling for restoration of parliamentary democracy in Nepal. "The Government took the correct step to stop military supplies to Nepal, in conformity with this stand.'' It also extended full support to all political parties and democratic forces that were struggling for "restoration of democracy."
