VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 18. More than 50 eminent personalities from various walks of life will receive the Madras Telugu Academy's silver jubilee Samaikya Bharath Gaurav Satkar 2005 on April 3 in Chennai. Among those to be presented the satkar are the national award winning actor, Vikram, and actors -- Meena, Muralimohan and Latha, the singers, P.B. Srinivas, K.S. Chitra, Unni Menon and Shankar Mahadevan, the dancer, Preethi Nigam, TV personalities, Kalyani, K. Sriram, V.V. Raj Kumar, Omkar, Basheer Ahmed and M.L. Thirumurugan, Delhi Kumar and Santhi Williams of `Mettela Savvadi' fame, Pala Seshadri of Sri Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala, the Vedic scholar, Remella Suryaprakasa Sastry, and the yoga exponent, Chukkapalli Venkat Rao. The academy will also present Samaikya Bharath Swarna Puraskar of Rs.1,01,116 each to the versatile dancer, Jayanthi Subramaniam, and the noted writer, N.R. Chendur To encourage students, scholarships of Rs.6,000 each will be given to those who stood first in the SSC examination in 28 States and seven Union Territories. The thespian, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, will preside over the function at the Music Academy Auditorium. The noted music direcotr, A.R. Rehman, is expected to take a leading part in the silver jubilee celebration, according to the founder-chief convener of MTA, T.V.K. Shastry.
