HYDERABAD, MARCH 18. The Technical Education Minister, N. Narsimha Reddy, informed the Assembly on Friday that the five-member expert committee studying the EAMCET pattern would be submitting its report by March-end. Replying to a supplementary by Sailajanath (Congress) during question hour, he said the Government would take a decision after examining the report. If the committee makes specific suggestions on ways of bringing rural students on par with those in urban areas in competing for EAMCET, the Government would implement them. Special coaching would be given in English language to rural students. Already, coaching classes were being telecast on Mana TV. The Roads and Buildings Minister, J. Rammohana Rao, refuted the TDP member, K. Venkata Rao's charge that there was corruption in the tendering process. Far from the charge that there was excess payment in road works for the new international airport at Shamshabad, the Government was able to save Rs. 40 lakhs. With a view to maintaining transparency, the value of contracts through the e-procurement mode had been brought down from Rs. 50 lakhs earlier to Rs. 10 lakhs now. It broke the monopoly of hot mix plants. To another question tabled by Nagesh (TRS), he said that a new bridge would be constructed during the year 2005-06 across Alair rivulet on NH-202 in Nalgonda district.
