NEW DELHI, MARCH 18. The Delhi Development Authority has started the process of eliciting views of the public on the provisions of the draft Master Plan 2021 by uploading the plan on its website -- www.ddadelhi.com -- and initiating the process for public information. Now any person having any suggestion with respect to the proposed modifications can send the same in writing to the Principal Commissioner-cum-Secretary at Delhi Development Authority, Vikas Sadan, INA, New Delhi-110023. The suggestions would be accepted for a period of 90 days from the date of the notice and DDA has called upon those making suggestion to give their name, full address, contact telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address. The suggestions can also be made through the feedback e-mail provided for in the website. The spokesperson for DDA said, "Delhi Master Plan-2021 is a plan with a vision and DDA is geared towards implementing it. The citizens also need to be involved in this planning process. We have uploaded the draft plan on our website so that the citizens can inform us about their views and suggestions." Further, the officials said, "Delhi is assuming increasing eminence among the great cities of the world. The city is growing at an unprecedented pace and it needs to be able to integrate its elegant past and modern developments into an organic whole. There are various critical issues in this integration such as land, physical infrastructure, transport, the ecology and environment, housing etc. Therefore the cornerstone for making Delhi a world-class city is a planning process that has a vision." The Delhi Master Plan-2021, a DDA release said, is the long-term perspective plan for guiding the sustainable planned development of Delhi. This document has laid down the planning guidelines, policies, development code and space requirements for various socio-economic activities supporting the city population during the plan period. At present about 702 sq. km is estimated to have been developed as built up areas, which accommodates about 138 lakh people and the projected population by the year 2021 is 230 lakh. Prior to Delhi Master Plan-2021, there were two earlier master plans -- Delhi Master Plan-2001 and Delhi Master Plan-1962, it informed.
