HYDERABAD, MARCH 18. The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday declared that counselling to fill the seats in post-graduate medical courses in the State may go on but this will not be given effect to, till further orders. These interim orders were passed in a writ petition filed by L. Maheswar and other students challenging the new procedure evolved by the State Government. Gudipati Anantha Ram, the student who got first rank in the entrance but who was refused a seat in the branch of his choice, was an impleading party to this writ petition. When the case came up for hearing the Government sought time to file counter affidavit and place all the relevant material. The judge adjourned the case for Thursday.

The university Vice-Chancellor, R. Sambasiva Rao, said: "The counselling process will continue as scheduled, but admissions will be subject to the final verdict of the court."
