Two held for fraud

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MARCH 18. Two persons have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly procuring several credit cards from various private banks on the basis of fake documents.

According to the police, Anil Kumar and Mahender Kumar were arrested at Sultanpuri in North-West Delhi on Wednesday. The police recovered 12 credit cards issued under various names from the accused.

The police said Anil, who had earlier worked with the Standard Chartered Financial Limited (a subsidiary of the Standard Chartered Bank) at ITO, was well aware of the technicalities involved in issuing a credit card to a person. After working for about five months last year, he left the job.

However, Anil, the police said, was in the habit of spending lavishly, especially on his girlfriends. He wanted to make easy money and hence hit upon the idea of procuring credit cards on fake addresses. He also roped in Mahender Kumar, who was involved in a petty job but wanted to make easy money, and duped many private banks.

Anil managed to procure as many as 47 credit cards from different banks.
