NEW DELHI, MARCH 18. Three more persons have been arrested by the Indira Gandhi International Airport police in connection with the manpower racket in which 300 men were duped of about Rs. 1.2 crores by a manpower agent who promised them jobs in Azerbaijan and Gulf countries. The police have already arrested the main accused, Kuldeep Singh, and one of his accomplices in this connection. According to the police, Harshdeep, Ranjit Singh and G.N. Pahwa -- all accomplices of Kuldeep -- were arrested during raids in the past couple of days. The police have recovered a large number of forged documents pertaining to "Caspian Petroleum Project" based at Baku in Azerbaijan. They have also recovered 64 fictitious air tickets of Azerbaijan Airlines, two forged tickets of KLM Airlines, seven fake traveller's cheques, six forged visas to Azerbaijan and some forged documents relating to labour contract in Gulf countries. The police said Kuldeep, who had opened an office in Connaught Place and used fake documents -- purportedly issued by the Protectorate of Immigrants (Ministry of Labour) -- to convince people that he was authorised to send them abroad for jobs, had links with a Kolkata based manpower agent, Mohammad Rafique. Like Kuldeep, Rafique too had opened an office in the name of M/S Euro International on Jagdish Chandra Bose Road in Kolkata. He too used to promise people of sending them abroad for jobs and claimed to have authorisation from the government.
