ISLAMABAD, MARCH 20. Pakistan today released 529 Indian fishermen and four civilian prisoners held since last year. The fishermen were detained for illegal fishing in Pakistan's territorial waters of the Arabian Sea. The four civilians were detained while allegedly attempting to cross over to Iran for onward journey to Turkey in search of employment. Thirty-five other civilian prisoners, mostly youth from Punjab, would also be released at the Wagah border tomorrow. Since the peace talks gained momentum both India and Pakistan have been taking a more humanitarian view of the prisoners in their countries. The fishermen left Karachi for Lahore by train this evening. They would be handed over to Indian authorities at the Wagah land border crossing on Monday.
