Credit plan accords top priority for agriculture

NIZAMABAD, MARCH 20. The district annual credit plan for the year 2005-06 has accorded top priority to agriculture and allied activities by allocating an amount of Rs. 645.24 crores as against Rs. 541.34 crores earmarked last year.

The plan was released with a total outlay of Rs. 952.86 crores as against Rs. 804.78 crores last year, registering an 18.40 per cent increase in the plan outlay. Next priority has been given to small scale industries by allocating Rs. 107.30 crores followed by other priority sections with an amount of Rs. 110.05 crores.

Thus, the total allocation for the total priority sector stood at Rs. 875.61 crores as against Rs. 748.32 crores last year. Only Rs. 77.25 crores was earmarked for the non-priority sector, and which was just Rs. 56.46 crores last year. He asked the bankers not to hesitate in extending loans to activities taken up under the Andhra Pradesh Micro-Irrigation Project (APMIP) as it was launched by the Government in view of the scarce water conditions due to a long dry spell.
