Held for impersonation

NEW DELHI MARCH 20. A man who was trying to board a Jet Airways flight to Srinagar on a ticket issued in another person's name was held on the charge of impersonation by the Central Industrial Security Force at the Indira Gandhi International Airport this morning and handed over to the Palam police station for further investigation.

The accused had reached the airport around 9-30 a.m. with a ticket for Jet Airways flight 9W-603 issued in the name of A.R. Shah. Though he managed to enter Terminal 1B from the passengers' entry gate on the basis of the ticket, due to his suspicious movement, the CISF personnel stopped him and asked him to prove his identity. Since the voter identity card and the driving licence he produced were in the name of Mukhtar Ahmad Bhatt, a resident of F-21, Jangpura, Delhi, he was apprehended and questioned at length.

Subsequently, Bhatt admitted that he was trying to travel on the ticket of A.R. Shah but did not reveal any particular reason for doing so. As such he was handed over by the CISF to the area police for further questioning.
