VIJAYAWADA, MARCH 20. The Civil Supplies Commissioner, Bhanwarlal, has promised steps to enhance allocation of funds to consumer clubs across Krishna district. Speaking at a meeting here on Sunday after releasing a book, `Viniyoga Vishaya Deepika', Mr. Bhanwarlal said there were as many as 1,200 consumer clubs across the State. "The 50 clubs constituted in educational institutions across Krishna district are doing a good job," he complimented. The clubs are formed by the respective district administrations in co-ordination with the local consumer forums with an aim to spread awareness among students on consumer rights and responsibilities. "These clubs are granted a sum of Rs. 2,000 each to carry out awareness activities. I will make efforts to enhance it to Rs. 4,000," he announced amidst applause. The book throws light on consumer rights and contains phone numbers related to the Consumer Forum officials. The Krishna district Joint Collector, P. Sampat Kumar, the District Supply Officer, B. Veerabhadra Rao, the Krishna district deputy education officer, Suguna Devi, representatives of various NGOs and others were present.
