Drop in humidity

The Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 32.9 degree

Celsius and a minimum of 22.9 degree Celsius, on Sunday. Humidity dropped from 70 per cent in the morning to 42 per cent in the evening.

Vermi compost

plant opened

The Commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, V. Usha Rani, has complimented residents of Ayyappanagar for setting up a vermi compost plant in the locality.

"Honesty on part of the officials and active participation of people can work wonders," she remarked at the formal inauguration of the plant on Sunday.

Ms. Usha Rani said residents of other localities should take cue from people of Ayyappanagar.

Later, she gave away prizes to the winners of drawing competitions organised in this connection.

Essay writing

Members of the City Congress Committee on Sunday conducted an essay writing competition for schoolchildren on `Freedom struggle in India- Salt

satyagraha', at Andhra Ratna Bhawan, on Sunday.

The City Congress Committee president, Kadiyala Butchibabu, paid tributes to Gandhiji by garlanding his statue.

Three hundred students drawn from Siddhartha Residential School, M. K.Gandhi School, Samata Vidyalayam, Vani Vidyalayam, Hindu Elementary School, Navabharat Vidayala and CVRGM school participated in the contest.
