HYDERABAD, MARCH 20. The city-based All-India Sanchar Seva PCO Society has demanded that local calls be made available at one rupee and rental for PCOs run by handicapped persons be fixed at Rs.100. In a representation to the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, S. Jaipal Reddy, G. Satyanarayana Reddy, president of the society, suggested that the society be made a business franchisee of the BSNL and VSNL. Demanding scrapping of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for its alleged failure to control the telecom sector, Mr. Reddy said if the demands were not accepted the society would be forced to shut down local/STD/ISD/PCO booths all over the country.
