Monthly water bill please

Sir, — At present the HMWSS is issuing bi-monthly bills for water consumed. Consumers prefer monthly bills as in the case of Andhra Pradesh Power Corporation.

Besides, sewer cess is charged in proportion to the water consumed. This is not only unfair but also burdensome

Revenue stamps not available

Sir, — One rupee revenue stamps have not been available in post offices of the twin cities for the last eight months. I appeal to the Ministers concerned as well as the Revenue Commissioner, members of the Revenue Board and head of the Indian Postal Department to ensure availability of these revenue stamps.

Helmet rule shelved?

Sir, — The helmet rule introduced with much fanfare is no longer enforced. We don't see traffic police stopping two-wheeler rider wearing a helmet. What happened to the concern of the police for the safety of vehicle riders? The media and citizens must expose such half-hearted efforts.

Vikarabad needs suburban trains

Sir, — There are no suburban trains from Hyderabad to Vikarabad in the morning. This despite there being two passenger trains from Hyderabad -- 360/359 (Falaknuma to Sholapur) and 347/348 (Hyderabad to Purna). I suggest that train No. 347/348 make a halt at night in Hyderabad and at least two push-pull trains be introduced between Hyderabad and Vikarabad. Future MMTS trains should also be extended to Vikarabad.

Express runs behind schedule

Sir, — Train No. 7607/7608 Tungabhadra Express from Secunderabad to Kurnool never adheres to the scheduled timings indicated in the timetable. Of late, it is leaving Secunderabad late by nearly half an hour and reaches its designation late by an hour. I request the Railway authorities to ensure that the train runs as per schedule.

General pass

for MMTS

Sir, — There is no general pass facility for MMTS commuters. If you travel from Begumpet to Secunderabad for a month, you have a monthly season ticket. If you want to travel from Begumpet to Hyderabad you must have another pass and so on. How inconvenient!

Why not provide one season ticket to cover different routes just as the RTC has one general pass from any route?

Receipt for pollution check

Sir, — On March 11 the RTA conducted pollution check on two-wheelers with the assistance of the police at ECIL X-roads. A four-wheeler bearing registration no. AP 28 V 9555 was pressed into service and one Sri Srikumar was conducting the check. When I got my two-wheeler bearing registration no. AP 9 AD 7318 checked at about 10.30 a.m., they demanded a fee of Rs.35. When I asked for a receipt the staff said there was no provision for it. They had not even displayed the fee amount anywhere. When I pointed it out, the staff pleaded helplesssnes.

When said I would complain against the practice, which gives scope for mischief, they asked me to pay Rs. 31 without a receipt albeit. Will the RTA please arrange for receipts for the money collected from the public for pollution check to ensure the system is foolproof?
