BEIJING, MARCH 21. With the recovery of three more bodies, the toll in the weekend coal mine blast in China's top coal producing province of Shanxi has risen to 63, officials said today. Sixty-three miners are confirmed dead in the explosion in northern Shanxi Province as three more bodies were found in the shaft of Xishui Colliery on Monday, officials from the rescue headquarters said. Rescuers said they had found bodies of all the 19 trapped miners in the Kangjiayao Coal Mine. The 44 others were discovered in Xishui Coal Mine. The Xishui mine was ordered to suspend production after safety problems last November, local officials said. The Kangjiayao mine, which was also hit in Saturday's explosion, however, had approval for production. A gas blast occurred at the Xishui colliery Saturday noon which tore through the neighbouring Kangjiayao, trapping 69 miners in the shaft. A preliminary investigation has found that the owners, disregarding the Government's rules. PTI
