BANGALORE, MARCH 21. The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, B.S. Yediyurappa, has received a letter threatening that he will be eliminated if he does not refrain from speaking against naxalites. Mr. Yediyurappa raised the issue of the threat to him in the House today during the discussion on the budget. He sought adequate protection from the Government. The Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, said adequate security will be provided to Mr. Yediyurappa. Mr. Yediyurappa said he received the letter on Monday afternoon at his residence through courier. He would hand over copies of the letter to the Speaker, the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. Mr. Yediyurappa told presspersons later that the letter mentioned that the naxal movement is gaining momentum as land grabbing from the poor is on the rise and farm labourers are getting low wages. Stating that he will not be cowed down by such threats, he said he will continue his campaign against such activities.
