Patents Bill debate deferred
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
MARCH 21.
Under pressure from parties, the discussion on the crucial Patents Amendment Bill was deferred till tomorrow. Sensing the mood in the Lok Sabha, where members sought more time to go through the amendments, the Government decided to defer the debate slated for the day.
Stating that the requests for time were "fair and legitimate," the Leader of the House and Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, said that the Government had expected the BJP-led Opposition to support the Bill.
