Cash stolen from NRI's bag

BANGALORE, MARCH 21. A non-resident Indian (NRI) from South Africa lost Rs. 75,000, 10,000 Rands and 180 Euros at the Shiva Temple, off Kempfort, in Airport Police Station limits on Sunday.

According to a complaint by Muniyammal Nair, a resident of Johannesburg, her vanity bag was cut open and cash and air tickets were stolen while she was standing in a queue at the Shiva Temple at around 11 a.m. The Airport police have registered a case.

Houses burgled

Thieves broke into two houses on Saturday night and made away with gold ornaments worth Rs. 5 lakhs and Rs. 25,000 in cash.

The police said the thieves stole Rs. 25,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs. 3.5 lakhs from the house of H.B. Nagaraj in J.P. Nagar Police Station limits.

The theft took place on Saturday night when Nagaraj was at a hospital where his wife has been admitted, the police said. The incident came to light on Sunday morning.

The J.P. Nagar police have registered a case.

In another incident of break in, gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs were stolen from a house in Ulsoor.

The resident, Mohammed Ali, was reportedly asleep when the theft took place. The Ulsoor police have registered a case.
