HUBLI, MARCH 22. There was tension for a while on Lamington Road here on Tuesday after some people enraged by an accident in which a pourakarmika was injured, staged a protest. The pourakarmika, Shanthavva Mariayppa Kori (45), was injured when a city transport bus hit her while she was crossing the road. She was rushed to the hospital. The news of the accident enraged some people, and they immediately staged a rasta roko bringing vehicular traffic on Lamington Road to a standstill. They demanded that the pourakarmika should be given compensation by the transport company. The police intervened and persuaded the agitators to call off the agitation. A case has been registered.
