Weavers threaten self-immolation

BELGAUM, MARCH 22. Weavers have threatened that they would immolate themselves in front of the Deputy Commissioner's Office here on Thursday as the Government had failed to fulfil its promises made through a special package.

Agitated over the continued negligence of the State Government, the weavers at a meeting here on Monday decided to set themselves on fire as a mark of protest. However, they did not name who will go ahead with the decision on Thursday, a worker in the powerloom sector or an owner.
