BELGAUM, MARCH 22. Three persons of a family, who were assaulted by a gang early on Monday, were admitted to the district hospital. The condition of one of them, Mahendra Goekar, is stated to be serious. The Malmaruti Police have confirmed the incident that occurred in Kanbargi on Gokak Road. At least three persons of a gang broke open the doors of Mr. Goekar's house at about 3 a.m. and attacked him, his wife, Parvati Goekar, and his mother, Shanta Goekar, with sharp weapons. The gang members then decamped with jewellery and Rs. 6000 in cash. The Malmaruti Police have registered a case.
