Gollapudi Srinivas
CHENNAI, MARCH 22. The Gollapudi Srinivas National Award for 2004, instituted by Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation, was given to Shonali Bose for her Bengali film `Amu.' The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,50,000 and a memento. Ms. Shonali Bose was chosen from 12 nominations of film directors working in Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu and English languages, from all over the country, by a jury comprising actor Kamal Hassan and director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. The award was instituted eight years ago by film writer and actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao and his family in the name of his son, Srinivas, who died in an accident while directing his debut film. The award will be presented on August 12 (the death anniversary of Srinivas) in Chennai. The Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial lecture will be delivered on the occasion.
Shonali Bose
