ISLAMABAD, MARCH 22. Former Pakistan Prime Minister and chief of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) party, Shujat Hussain, will visit New Delhi on March 28 on a goodwill mission. Mr. Hussain is leading a 30-member delegation of his party leaders, industrialists and journalists. The former Information Minister and Secretary-General of PML-Q, Mushaid Hussain, is among those accompanying him. The objective is to interact with people of various walks of life and hold discussions with the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) leadership. Besides meeting the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, the delegation is expected to hold talks with the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, and other top Indian political leaders on the steps to speed up the dialogue process. Mr. Hussain told the CPI (M) general secretary, Harkishen Singh Surjeet, and CPI leader, A.B. Bardhan, who were here earlier this month, that he had received an invitation initially from Congress chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, and subsequently from the Indian government. The PML-Q president, considered to be a close confidant of President Pervez Musharraf, had briefly held the post of interim Prime Minister before Aziz took over the top post. Mr. Hussain's brother, Pervez Elahi, who is the Chief Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, hosted the Punjab Chief Minister, Amrainder Singh, recently.
