NEW DELHI, MARCH 22. The All-India Freedom Fighters Organisation and the All-India Freedom Fighters' Successors Organisation today jointly urged the Union Government to immediately increase the monthly "samman pension'' of freedom fighters from the existing Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000. The two organisations adopted a resolution to this effect at their joint national councils, which met here to chalk out a series of programmes to celebrate the birth centenary of Sheelbhadra Yajee, an associate of Subhash Chandra Bose, across the country. Adopting a political resolution, the councils also drew the attention of the State Governments and the Union Government towards anomalies in "samman pension'' granted by the State Governments. The resolution urged the State Governments to bring the "samman pension'' at par with the Uttaranchal and Madhya Pradesh Governments, which is Rs. 4,030 per month. It also demanded revival of the Joint Committee comprising freedom fighters and officials of the Union Home Ministry to solve various problems of the freedom fighters. Satyananda Yajee, son of Sheelbhadra Yajee and general secretary of the two organisations, read out the resolution which was later unanimously adopted by the two councils. The meeting was presided over by Chaudhury Ranveer Singh, working president of the All-India Freedom Fighters Organisation and father of the Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The Congress MP, Sajjan Kumar, in his address assured the freedom fighters that he would raise their demands in the Lok Sabha as well as take them up with the Centre and Delhi Government.
