Survey to identify families for ration cards

CHAMARAJANAGAR, MARCH 22. The Deputy Commissioner, Harsh Gupta, on Monday said that a door-to-door survey work to identify families living below the poverty line (BPL) and above the poverty line (APL) in the district for the distribution of ration cards will be taken up in five stages.

Addressing presspersons here, he said the dates for the survey have been announced. The survey will be conducted simultaneously in rural and urban areas.

He said the objective of the survey is to identify families without ration cards. The survey teams will record information about families having telephone or cellphone, vehicles, more than five acres of agricultural land and irrigation pumpset facility, monthly income, loans of Rs. 1 lakh or more, income tax payers, registered contractors, APMC merchants and commission agents. He said families having these facilities will come under the APL list.

Mr. Gupta said the survey work will be taken up in the district on the following dates: house registration till March 27; family unit survey from March 28 to April 23; preparation of first report on April 25; village/ward meetings from April 29 to May 15; and the final survey report will be submitted on April 18. He said taluk-level nodal officers have been appointed to each ward/village panchayat. taluk and district task force committees have been formed under the supervision of the district-level officer as nodal officer for each taluk.
