Meet reviews development projects

KOCHI, MARCH 22. A meeting attended by Babu Jacob, advisor to State Government on Urban Development Cell; C.M. Dinesh Mani, Kochi Mayor; and Antony Isaac, chairman, Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), discussed various projects conceived for the development of the city, along the lines of the Capital City project being implemented in Thiruvananthapuram.

The meeting also reviewed the ongoing projects and the preparation work of the master plan for Kochi. Both the Corporation and the GCDA are joining hands in preparing the master plan.

The next meeting is expected in a fortnight.

Various development schemes prepared by division committees were presented at a seminar on `Kochi Corporation: Kerala Development Plan 2005-2006' held at the Town Hall here today.

The Mayor, C.M. Dinesh Mani, inaugurated the seminar and the Deputy Mayor, A.V. George, presided.

The councillors, C.K. Gopalan; K.J. Antony; K.D. Vincent and Melly Joy; and T.J. Vinod, member, district planning board, spoke.

The proposals will be compiled to form a project to be presented at the Council meeting.

After getting the Council's approval, the project will be forwarded to the District Planning Committee.
