KOLLAM, MARCH 22. The annual Chamayavilakku festival of Chavara Major Kottamkulangara Sri Devi Temple will be held till March 25. The renowned Chamayavilakku rituals in connection with the festival will take place at 10 p.m. on March 24 and 25. For the ritual, men dress up as women and carry sacred lamps to propitiate the presiding deity of the temple. At a press conference here today, the president of the temple committee, Sunil K. Nathara, and secretary, Sajukumar Kaleekkamuriyil, said that more than 10,000 men were expected to participate in the ritual. The rituals on both the days would be identical. Even several men from abroad attended the ritual. The office-bearers said that this year, a team from Greece were expected.
